Located in various parts of the city, our galleries are destined to promoting and disseminating the visual arts through a multidisciplinary approach, providing spaces for anthological exhibitions, exhibitions by young artists, and individual and collective site-specific projects. In keeping with the specific characteristics of each space, each gallery is in charge of managing its own strategy while remaining cognizant of the needs of the city’s cultural agents. The Galleries include Pavilhão Branco (White Pavilion), the historic Galeria Quadrum (Quadrum Gallery), Galeria Boavista (Boavista Gallery), Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria Nacional (Gallery at the National Ropework Factory) and Galeria Avenida da Índia (Avenida da Índia Gallery).

The old studio of the sculptor Lagoa Henriques was restored in 2015 by EGEAC with the purpose to create a new exhibition space for the city and it became know as Galeria Avenida da Índia, where it stands. It opened in October 2015 with the “Retornar” (Return) initiative, which marked the 40 years since the airlift of Portuguese nationals from Angola immediately prior to independence in 1975. This also established a position of dialogue and questioning of the colonial legacy, which aims to be developed by the programming in this venue.
